Fallout: New Vegas
Fallout New Vegas is one of the greatest games of all time. I like just walkin' around the beginning area and running away from radscorpions at level 1 and drinking toilet water at 1 hp. I like talking to the same NPCs and doing the same roleplaying as I did in my last run. I always go :o when more of the world and characters are revealed. Never gets old!
Fan Profile
I got into New Vegas a little after it came out, cuz there was a big thread on Something Awful forums about it. So maybe.. like 2012-2013? It was my first Fallout game, and you never forget your first 😍 I loved it as soon as I played it for the first time, cuz it had the fun open world of Oblivion but MUCH better dialogue and characters!
I never participated in the the ~fandom community~ aspect of Fallout, and just stuck to rotating my faves in my head and playing with mods. I only know the opinions of Something Awful and Reddit fans, and I don't know what the Tumblrite shippers are discoursing about. I think one time I got a “callout post” on Tumblr for posting art of Vulpes slorping on Caesar's stinky penus, but that was before doxxing and harassing were more rampant .
Fav scenes:
- Storming the dam with the ex-Enclave GMILFs and getting a lil helicopter backup
- Getting praised by Mr. House for being a good gopher 🐶
- Putting Mr. House back into his pod, safe and sound :)
- Being Mr. House's good fergal and him being proud of me when I take the dam for him 😍
- Killing Mr. House with a golf club
- Sniping Vulpes the first time I played the game so I didn't know the Legion had backstory or dialogue-able characters.
- Bunny-hopping up the Quarry walls to find Melissa in a straight line, then getting stuck in-between 5000 Deathclaws
- First time playing Dead Money and being scared!!!
- Corrupting Joshua Graham as his personal Palpatine and telling him to pop a cap in a fool.
- Getting scared by Sasuke going SMELL THAT AIR!!!!
- Getting scared by the Kings npcs going “HEYYY you're that courier everyone's talking about” before they give you 3 caps and a radroach meat.
- Getting scared by Malcolm Holmes.
- Getting scared by that raider going “DID YOU SEE THAT? That crazy bitch was going to kill me!” and I never ever see them fighting in the first place.
Waifus
In my brain rotation:
- Joshua Graham
- Vulpes Inculta
- Raul Tejada (voiced by Danny Trejo, how can I resist??)
- God
- Father Elijah
- Christine (veronica does not deserve)
- Dean Domino
- Robert House, both computer screen and in his stinky pod
Pairings
Unfortunately most of my “ships” are more like mob x character hentai cuz I just like to rotate the character in my head :D Romantic shipping is not my priority in New Vegas, but I do like thinking about general character interactions!
Ships are probably left/right fixed unless otherwise stated.
- 20 wild cazadors impregnating Joshua Graham with blasphemous eggs and Mormon shame
- Every legion recruit x Vulpes Inculta's slutty mean ass
- Every Nightkin and Night Stalker x Raul's raw meaty senior citizen ass
- Tabitha x Raul
- Tabitha x Ronda (probably riba?)
- Dog x God
- Dog x Father Elijah
- Me canonically holding Christine's hand
- Me canonically pulling the plug on House's iron lung
- Every Ghost Person x Dean Domino's crusty senior citizen ass
IDK how I feel about Vulpes/Caesar right now. When I was younger I was more reversible and liked twinks bottoming. Right now I don't really want to see Caesar's butthole OR penis. Though I know it's probably canon compliant for Caesar to act all Greek about having to top cuz he's the commander LMAO.
Fic Recs
Gen:
- DUST: Mod where you play through the Mojave after the courier's done with it. I haven't played it myself, but I've watched enough play-throughs to get a feel for the lore. It's pretty fun to piece together from the notes and named NPCs, despite there being no voiced dialogue! And actually I think this is one of the few mods-as-fics I enjoy cuz there's no voiced dialogue and all the storytelling is through gameplay HAHA.
Adult:
- Captivity by MehLordOfMeh: 🔞 Tabitha x Raul noncon.
- The Initiation of the Fox by nukagoblin: 🔞 A bunch of girls molest Vulpes (unfinished)
Landmines
- I cannot view most riba stuff… no Top!Raul or Top!Joshua, etc.
- Similarly, I cannot view top!male character x bottom!oc stuff. OCs include couriers and self-inserts.
- It is kind of annoying when Redditors legit argue that their faction politics are the best.
- I cannot play through or listen to mods-as-fics with voiced dialogue 🤪 Dunno why my ears got that bad stim.
Mods
In current year, you may NEED some mods in order to run New Vegas on a modern machine. Even at release, NV was very buggy, crash-prone and nigh unplayable.
You may also want some fun mods to add new quests, or femboy legionairies to the game. Those are cool too.
My NV Modlist is on a separate page cuz it's so long.
Mod packs
Clean, curated mod packs are a great starting point to see which mods are well-known to work well, and play good with other mods! They'll also walk you through any errors you may find if you try to install stuff yourself the first time.
- Viva New Vegas - Instructions for a vanilla-like NV experience that fixes bugs and crashes.
- The Best Of Times - Instructions to play FO3 in NV's engine using the TTW mod.
- SALVO - extremely HD overhaul, ymmv on the aesthetics that make everyone look like Skyrim characters
Modding Sites
Once you have a good base set-up from modpacks, you may wish to pick and choose mods for your own taste.
- Mod.Pub is a great mod site with more creator-friendly control over their work and compliance towards European privacy laws. There are some mods you can only get on mod.pub, such as Eddoursul's work.
- ModDB has been around for a while, and the UI is a bit dated. Still, it has some mods that I quite enjoy like a working version of the DarNified UI. Yeah I like DarNified over VUI+ :P
- Nexus Mods is the most popular site for creators to upload their work. It is highly commercialized, full of ads, uses the modders as free labor for their own financial gain, but it has the most work on it.
I like that we can choose alternatives to one big site! It's nice to spread things around and choose the policies that work best for our own needs.
