Expenses: Table was $45 for a 5×7 outdoor space. Free parking across the street. Food from the various vendors!
Provided: Awning from the building so we didn't have to set up a tent 😺 free entry inside
Pros:
- Great vibes. They only accept vendors that make their own stuff or have vintage goods, so no outsourced/factory made trinkets. A great event to have blue hair and pronouns in DA SOUTH.
- chill crowd, got to have some good convos with other artists as well as about random stuff like being traumatized by Chinese School as a kid haha
- good air conditioning inside!!!
- I had a friend go get me food and drinks from other vendors to try throughout the day, great food!
- lots of variety that still feels cohesive
- Indoor booths were VERY spacious, saw a lot of people with 3 tables set up and a whole corner to themselves (i think those spaces were $100)
Cons:
- the outdoor awning above our table did not provide good sun protection as the sun moved through the day
, but there is no room to set up a tent for yourself. You will fry in the heat. - the provided outdoor space was quite cramped cuz it was on the entrance ramp. It was technically 5×7 but half of it was taken up by the needed walking area. We had trouble squeezing in n out through our own booth and other people's booths outside!
- super dark in the indoor market! I needed to turn on my phone flashlight to find the bathroom
Would you go again?:
Yes! The fruit flea has different themed events every couple of months, and I wanna try the NSFW and goth markets. I brought a completely different display and stock for this SFW plant-based event, compared to the slut wrestling event the day before. And I did better overall with my “dark” art 😜 I was nervous at first cuz maybe my art wasn't that suitable… But we brought people around with weenies and cats lol
