2025 Latinx Comics Art Festival
When/where: March 22 & 23, 2024 at Modesto, CA
Rating: 5/5
Website: https://www.latinxcomicartsfest.com/
Income: N/A, I helped
Expenses: Free admission! Food trucks in the back.
Provided: 6ft Tables & some chairs to the vendors. Free snacks and water in the lounge. Free dinner after both days for vendors! (well idk if Sunday was free)
Pros
- So much more fun being a gofer than a vendor. I don't do customer service well. But I will get your taco and fries order.
- Drawing tables in the back for kids, live performances occasionally, and a closed room for panels means there's always something to do.
- Very roomy tables
we were at the back of the college cafeteria so we basically had like 5 ft behind us to stretch out – which is much more than the cramped 12 inches of space you usually get with a table.
Cons:
- There was a guy going around buying books and zines, which was cool until the callouts after the con about him buying them to resell at 2x the price
. Weird.
- I noticed one food truck packed up really early cuz I guess they didn't make sales? It was slower earlier in the day, but by the end of the day they were all sold out of food and drinks. So uneven audience.
Would you go again?:
Yes! It was on the smaller side, and very cozy and focused on the artists. No funkopop resellers or bootleggers. And our friends were satisfied with their table numbers!
