Deconsumption
I like DIY, deconsumption, and recycling/reusing stuff to reduce manufacturing waste.
- Sometimes we make our own drawing ink from charcoal and walnuts we got outside.
- A lot of the materials we use for our art and store are thrifted. You ever find 1000 water-resistant mailing envelopes for $5?
- A lot of the displays we use for in-person events are re-used. Like kitchen spice racks for spinning displays, or a discarded acrylic shelf from a brick-and-mortar store.
- I use old clothes and scraps to repair our dog toys and fabric furniture.
- I'm making a fence around our yard out of free wood pallets and vines from our yard.
I try not to make judgements on other people for their own spending habits. I personally like to live smaller and slower. It's fun to find new uses for old things!
