Spongebob Yaoi
notes for my marine science and yaoi panel
Squidward
It's known that many female octopuses die while taking care of her eggs, because she both starves herself and self-mutilates. It's less clear what triggers males to die.
https://tonmo.com/threads/why-the-male-dies-after-mating.6555/
Different things could be true for different species:
- An octopus's reproductive maturity could coincide with its onset senescence. Females do not have much longer lifespans even with their optical nerve altered, only living a couple more months.
- The effort of mating could expend too much energy, especially if it's a species of octopus that shoots off its penis-arm.
- The third fucked up and evil option is that in many species of octopuses, the female is larger and simply eats the smaller male for convenient nutrition while she carries their young. Duh!!! Octopus is spiders of the sea… The black widow squidward
This does bring up questions on if same-sex NON impregnating behavior contributes to senescence?
https://earthlingnature.wordpress.com/tag/homosexual-behavior-in-octopus/
The Blue Ringed Octopus can have male/male sex, but knowingly NOT deposit their vital sperm. If they are fated to senescence in sexual maturity, they are just bisexual just cuz. If losing their spermatophore contributes to their loss of energy and death, perhaps practicing gay sex before the big female sex day helps them do the dangerous deed.
Female octopuses are known to mate several times with several males. Not much information on if these specific males have enough time to mate with several females…

In another species of Octopus Squid, males mate and sperm with any other male and female they find. This paper says they probably fuck everyone cuz its so hard to find other octopuses down there, so they gotta shoot their shot even if they can't tell.
Lastly, the striped Pacific octopus displays several features differing than what we've come to expect from octopuses. The girls dont eat the males, they have unisex cohabitation, they have tender face-to-face beak kissing sex, and they can mate multiple times and lay multiple clutches of eggs before their inevitable death.
There is no specific species of Octopus that Squidward is based off of, but that's the fun of “monsterfucking” - to create chimeric behaviors off of a chimera of species, from both dimorphic sexes!
You could easily say that perhaps Squidward has made it to his old age PRECISELY because he's a sexlexs curmudgeon.
You could also say that Squidward simply acts and looks old because of squid's very short life and relatively early maturity/senescence - while sponges can live from 10 to 200 to 15000 years. So Spongebob could literally be 1000 years older than squidward yet act more childlike because of his carefree long life.
Does Squidward refuse to be FRIENDS (have seeeex) with Spongebob because he knows that would literally kill him to show LOVE? Only you can write your own headcanons. With SCIENCE FACTS.
