-A **Pentel Brush Pen** is the easiest fat pen for me to use. I refill the cartridges with a little blunt-tip syringe.  The ink I refill it with is Platinum Carbon Black Ink, which is one of the blackest blacks and dries nice and matte for photographing and scanning.  I also use Hydrus watercolors, and I'm trying out a bunch of other fountain pen inks for refills.  I think most fountain pen ink should be good for refilling brush pens, because they're formulated not to clog the pen.+The ink I refill it with is **Platinum Carbon Black Ink**, which is one of the blackest blacks and dries nice and matte for photographing and scanning.  I also use **Hydrus watercolors**, and I'm trying out a bunch of other fountain pen inks for refills.  I think most fountain pen ink should be good for refilling brush pens, because they're formulated not to clog the pen.

For thin brush lines, I use a **Pentel Artist Brush Sign Pen**. It's like an eyeliner pen for drawing. It's pretty sick. For thin brush lines, I use a **Pentel Artist Brush Sign Pen**. It's like an eyeliner pen for drawing. It's pretty sick.

For controlled, non-variable thin lines, I like **Ohto pens**. They tips are much stronger than Microns, and can withstand my mighty hulk grip.  For controlled, non-variable thin lines, I like **Ohto pens**. They tips are much stronger than Microns, and can withstand my mighty hulk grip.

Otherwise, for sketching I like whatever I can find on my desk. Chewed up pencils, free pens from hotels... Otherwise, for sketching I like whatever I can find on my desk. Chewed up pencils, free pens from hotels...

+I do my halftones digitally, I don't know any place around me that has actual halftone paper though I'd love to try it one day. I've used these free black/white halftone textures for the last decade:

+You can load the textures up in any drawing program (i use Clip Studio Paint, or sometimes an old version of Photoshop CS6), and set the halftone layer to multiply. Then use a layer mask, and erase away the parts you want to make white. I like to use a mix of a hard round brush for filling big areas, and a grainy noise brush for shading.  You can also be lazy and set the whole layer to "overlay" over your colors for some texture.
