Blaugust 09: Do Interact If...

Today I saw Micah's "Do interact if..." section on their site, and was positively inspired to write a fresh new one! I had one on tumblr I wrote a very long time ago. What could change now…?

Da list

I've wasted enough time being befuddled by the concept of DNIs for the last couple of years. But I'm on social media to find people I'd vibe with and have nice convos with ya know? So I'd like to put out some positive feelers like a stinky carrion flower, and find other weird morbid people to have fun drawing and writing stuff with :D

I started adding some stuff to my social media intro in progress.

What I have so far is:

Please interact if…

Some other stuff I'd like to add on there from my old interact list is…

That stuff is to ward off people who get mean over “weird” genders and sexualities on every side :^) Add lesbian fujoshi to that one! And public universal friends.

And:

Cuz I don't think you have to be an artist (by trade or as a main hobby) to be chill. It's nice to talk to people who don't draw for 50 hours a day! Cuz they have other interests I can learn about.

And:

I'm always struggling to put into concise words, “oh my god proshippers/antishipping stuff is so annoying don't talk to me about that unless you've actually been stalked/harassed/affected by fuckheads who take cartoons too seriously”. Cuz it's not a both sides centrist thing, it's just like.. what if there was a third gender of people who have fun making problematic yaoi but feel insane when so many people try to bond over discussing the hot gossip and main characters of the day. Instead of their actual interests and stuff they like.

Maybe that's the direction I should head into… cuz I'm always trying to expand the whole “shipping discourse” thing BEYOND just ships (cuz hey the same rhetoric affects people's jobs and art and livelihoods and video game payment processors too). Like girl I want to complain about shit too and make call-to-actions to complain about payment processors, but I don't have time to be qrt-ing/screenshotting shit takes and dunking on main characters all day in the #vent #discourse channel!! My fandom is not discourse!! Something like that.

DN = deez nuts

I yap way too much LOL. Maybe I should just upload what I have of my soc med intro to my main site and GASP add/edit it later?! But then I'll get caught up in what styling I want for it… And then I'll never want to edit it later if I have to take 5 seconds to open up vscodium, and then wait another 5 minutes for everything to sync in the git→vercel pipeline because my website is so chonky huge it ACTUALLY takes longer for it to update!

booru

Oh yeah, I applied for Citrus Con yesterday at like 10 am with bleary eyes. Sorry to whoever's looking at apps and sees me editing and saving the thing once every day. It got me to upload a bunch more art to my booru though! Especially filling out the commissions tag, cuz, well, I feel like I do a good job at drawing people's favs yaoi boyz and gurlz on the canvas of a body pillow!

I still need to draw my own self-indulgent OC body pillow of Basile front, latex-spy back… Maybe I'll find some downtime in the fall/winter season when there's less events to prep for :P

store

And I updated my store with some new stuff. Like the Nightwing kinbaku charm commission, and the bunny Scout x kitty Spy coffin keychain.

I added some old stock like lanyards and some bigger charms.

And I'm testing out the custom sketch listing. I had a good few bites on commission listings when I was on Etsy. On ecwid, a good amount of people used it for the custom charm design. Maybe I'll try out some of my more common commission types on the store. Nothing wrong with having more options. Some people like emailing me raw, some people like the airtable form, and some people like buying a listing.

I know not everyone trusts online Like That. I got a comment the other day on my mousepads saying “i dont want to doxx myself so i wont buy” LOL. So people prefer to buy through a reputable 3rd party like Etsy, rather than an artist's personal shop where who-knows-what-happens to your info I GUESS. I like to think I cultivate a reputable.. reputation online? I post consistently, so I won't really ghost anyone. I regularly queue up commissions that I finish. I respond to emails fairly quickly (I know some people don't check their inbox for a month lmao). I think I can be held accountable shilling my wares online on my own shop because I depend on online for a lot of income??? IDK. I feel like most payment options online give you the ability to SUCC your money back via charge-backs anyways. Get a PO box! Send your deliveries to your workplace or something! I need a PO Box too… one that's closer to us, our current one charges us like $15 to send shit back -_-
